Here at VLC, we have a vision for the ministry we believe God is leading us to build. This vision, we call the 7 Fold Focus, and the teaching on it can be found here https://vlchurch.tv/2021/01/11/7-fold-focus/(opens in a new tab)

We encourage you to listen and join us in the mission to engage people where they are and lead them to become fully developed followers of Jesus Christ! The foundation of this vision comes from the core beliefs you will find below. If these statements resonate with you, and the vision connects with the kind of ministry you want to be a part of, please consider making VLC your home! God is on the move!

Here’s a brief summary of what we believe

The Bible
The Bible is the inspired Word of God to us. Even though it was written by human authors, the Word of God does not come from their own interpretations or ideas therefore it is considered accurate without any error.

2 Peter 1:20-21 2, ” 20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”

Therefore the Bible is what we use as our sole authority for faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:16 states it clearly: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right.” (NCV)

God
We believe that God is real and that He is the Ruler of the universe. He is one God made known to men as the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Each one of these persons has their own role in the redemption of people.

Deuteronomy 32:39 says, “See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me…”

Jesus Christ
Jesus is the Son of God. He is God manifested in the flesh as it is described in;

1 Timothy 3:16, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.”

Jesus lived a sinless life and offered himself as a sacrifice for Sin by dying on the cross. He rose on the third day. He will return someday to reign as the King of Kings.

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the power of God working in the hearts of every believer. He is God’s presence in the life of every one who puts their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. He gives you the ability to live a spiritual life and overcome sin and temptation. He gives believers spiritual gifts to strengthen the church to be empowered to represent Christ on earth. As Christians, we are encouraged to continually seek to experience the Spirit of God. We give total freedom to the Holy Spirit to show his presence and power in our lives.

Sin
It is disobedience to God. Human beings are born with a sinful nature and there is nothing a person can do to remove sin from his or her life. The result of sin is death and eternal separation from God. We believe that the ultimate destination for a person when they die because of sin is Hell. This is why we desperately need salvation by trusting in Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23 (NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.

Baptism
Baptism is a public expression of your decision to live for God. It identifies you as the follower of Jesus. We believe that baptism is through immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost as it was practiced in the early church.
